5 Summer Must-Dos for St. Louis Kids

It’s the best time of the year – school is out, the weather is warm, and there are plenty of opportunities for adventure! Here are 5 must-do activities before heading back to school in the fall:

  1. Hit the Waterpark

Louis summers can be HOT, so combat the heat with a fun day in the water! Parks like Hurricane Harbor in Six Flags have something for the whole family – whether you prefer a slow ride down the lazy river, or diving down the tallest, fastest, most wild waterslide, everyone will enjoy cooling off at the waterpark.

  2. Check out a Baseball Game

Peanuts, hot dogs, and a whole afternoon of fun! St. Louis is home of the Cardinals, and no summer is complete without a trip to Busch Stadium. After the game, be sure to check out the Kids Club and receive access to extra goodies and behind-the-scenes experiences.

  3. Join a Reading Club

School may be out, but that doesn’t mean the learning has to stop! Check out your local library and see what kinds of reading clubs they offer. Many clubs encourage kids to pick a certain genre or topic they are interested in exploring, while some are more laid back and simply reward kids for taking the time to read.

  4. Go to the Zoo

When the sun is out, the animals are ready to play! The St. Louis Zoo is home of hundreds of different kinds of animals, and is built to give you an up-close look at many. Watch the grizzly bears swim, meet the penguins face-to-face, walk through the butterfly house, and experience so much more at this nationally-recognized park.

  5. Visit your Doctors

Okay, we’ll admit, this may not be at the top of every kid’s list of how they want to spend their summer. But it’s a great chance to get in all their appointments without worrying about pulling them out of school, missing extracurricular activities, and all the other things we think about the other 9 months of the year. Many practices, like Alizadeh & Schreiner Orthodontics, offer special hours through the summer to provide even more flexibility and convenience. If your child is 7 or older, make sure to include an orthodontist on the list of doctors they should see – they may even have a little fun in our extremely kid-friendly facility!
